The museum preserves:

• material evidence of the history of science, various branches of astronomy, instrumentation and related fields
• local history and biographical materials of the period 1832-2016

The museum explores and explores

• formation and development of astronomy at the University, Kyiv, the country and the world
• Fates and scientific achievements of Kyiv astronomers and graduates of the Department of Astronomy of the University
• cooperation of Kyiv University Observatory with other scientific institutions and with the local community
• features of scientific research and the state of the material and technical base of the Observatory at different stages of its existence

The museum introduces

• the history of the area
• the history of the creation of St. Vladimir University in Kyiv and the construction of an astronomical observatory at it
• the development of astronomical education and ideas about the universe during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
