The Museum of the Ukrainian Diaspora (a branch of the Museum of History of Kyiv) is a museum in Kiev, the exposition of which introduces visitors to the history and artistic heritage of Ukrainians of the world, starting with the first settlers of the Kin. XIX century, to the representatives of the third wave of emigration, who were abroad during the Second World War, and their descendants.In four museum halls, more than a century of life of world Ukrainians is unfolding — from the history of the first settlers “to the free lands” who crossed the ocean at the end of the 19th century, to the representatives of the third wave of emigration, who were abroad during the Second World War, and their descendants. The museum space presents the personal destinies of ordinary emigrants and the life path of prominent Ukrainians of the world, the activities of Ukrainian foreign communities and key episodes of the history of non-returnees and political refugees are exposed, outstanding works of art and unique historical artifacts are exhibited. Among the famous personalities presented in the museum — state and political figures Pavlo and Danylo Skoropadsky, the last President of the UNR in exile Mykola Plavyuk, the hero of the undeclared Russian-Ukrainian war Markian Paslavsky. They belonged to different generations, lived in different parts of the world, but devoted their lives to the only goal - the struggle for the independence of Ukraine. The content focus of the exposition is the story of foreign communities whose activities were aimed at restoring Ukrainian statehood and preserving national identity, language, culture. Unique exhibits and photos reveal the work of the Ukrainian National Association in Canada, the World Congress of Ukrainians, Plast, etc. The art collection presented in the exposition is of great value. The viewer has the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of outstanding artists of Ukrainian origin: David Burlyuk, Lyudmila Morozova, Petro Kapshuchenko, Oleksiy Bulavitsky, Anatoly Kolomyets, Petro Kravchenko, Timofiy Messak, Stepan Khvily. The family history and creative heritage of the outstanding artistic dynasty of Krychevsky, representatives of three generations of artists, who at different times ended up in France, USA, Venezuela, are illuminated in the museum space. Visitors have the opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of the Ukrainian Republican Chapel and its creator — conductor Oleksandr Koshyets, thanks to whom the world learned about musical Ukraine. The museum also tells about the famous choreographer of Ukrainian origin — Serzh Lifar. The exposition is created on the basis of museum funds, as well as materials obtained from numerous museum and archival institutions and private collectors, in particular, from Canada, USA and Australia. Among the particularly significant exhibits are securities of the first Ukrainian credit unions in the United States, personal belongings of the Skoropadsky family, documents and mementos from the DI P camps. A significant part of the artifacts are new additions to the museum collection, which were donated to the institution recently. Symbolic exhibits are a lump of Ukrainian land that traveled the world in the 1940s and eventually returned home, as well as the parade uniform of the American Military Academy West Point. The military uniform belonged to a graduate of the Academy Markian Paslavsky, who was born in the USA, but returned to his historical homeland and died heroically in 2014 near Ilovaisk. Artistic landscapes of Prague, Paris, New York expand the idea of the Ukrainian world and world cultural heritage, Australian canyons and Canadian Ukrainian settlements, as well as numerous works on Ukrainian themes.
