Valery Lobanovsky Memorial Museum

In December 2009, in the old building of the Kiev school No. 319 on Lobanovsky Avenue, 146/148, the museum of its most famous student, Valery Vasilyevich Lobanovsky, was opened.

The great football coach, whose methods are still “chasing” players in Italian and German clubs, studied within these walls in 1946-56.

Then he entered the Kiev Polytechnic Institute, but the training required more and more time. Lobanovsky did not become a scientist, he became one of the most famous football mentors, the “father” of the legendary era of the Kiev “Dynamo” of the 1970-80s. At school, they always knew and remembered who was her most famous student. And the idea to create a museum of the Ukrainian football meter arose at a meeting of graduates in 2007, when five years passed after the sudden death of Lobanovsky, who died on May 13, 2002. Already in September 2007, a memorial plaque was installed on the wall of Lobanovsky's native school. Later, the school received his name. The museum was opened on December 25, 2009. The opening was attended by Valery Vasilyevich's wife, Adelaide Pankratievna. The museum is located on the second floor of the old school building, in the physics office. On the stands there are photos of Valery, starting from school years, photos of his classmates, teachers. Newspaper clippings of the time create a suitable atmosphere of immersion in the era. Cabinets, books, appliances, the desk at which Valera sat — all from there, since the 1950s. Standing in a prominent place is the bicycle, which he gave to his classmate Valery Shevchenko during his school years. The museum also presents personal belongings of Lobanovsky's “coaching era” — a passport, an electric shaver, boots and even the uniform in which he went to training.

The biography of the legendary coach is known here as a “tooth”. His achievements as a player and as a coach are of interest to an increasing number of visitors. The Lobanovsky Memorial Museum has already entered the thematic routes related to the sporting glory of Ukraine.
