The National Museum “Kyiv Art Gallery” is one of the most prominent art museums of Ukraine, which in 2022 celebrated the 100th anniversary of its founding. Despite the extremely difficult situation associated with the invasion of Russian troops and the declaration of martial law in Ukraine, the museum did not stop its activities, perceiving it as its own contribution to the future victory, protection of the interests of our country on the cultural front, struggle for spirituality, liberation from the consequences of imperial colonial policy, restoration of historical justice, affirming the image of the Ukrainian as European, enriched by its own history, unique culture and art. Even after the damage that the museum building suffered from a missile attack in the center of Kiev, the museum does not stop its activities, continuing its work on both Ukrainian and international projects.The museum is not only one of the oldest museums in Kiev, but also one of the most beloved. His collection is one of the richest among the art museums of Ukraine. It has more than 14,000 works of painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative and applied art.Among the most famous museum monuments are icons of the XIII-XVII centuries, portraits of the brushes of V.G. Borovikovskogo and D.G. Levitsky, beautiful collections of landscape painting by I.K. Aivazovskogo, M.M. Ge, I.I. Shishkina, V.M. Vasnetsov. Brilliant collections of works by I.Yu. Repina, M.O. Vrubel, artists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, as well as works of contemporary Ukrainian artists - witnesses of the present, who in artistic form reproduce the impression of the current events in Ukraine, the trials that fell on its fate.
