The Zhytomyr Regional Literary Museum was founded thanks to the initiative of the cultural community of the city on December 4, 1990. Since 2001, the museum is located in an old two-story building on Kiev Street, 45. The exposition of the museum consists of three exhibitions. The first floor is dedicated to the works of the Zhytomyr theater artist Ivan Shevchenko. On the second floor there is an exhibition dedicated to the life, literary and artistic activities of the outstanding poet-translator Boris Tena. The third exhibition tells about the stay in Zhytomyr of the famous Ukrainian composer Mikhail Skorulsky, author of the famous ballet “Forest Song”. The main task of the Zhytomyr Regional Literary Museum is the scientific enrichment of the funds that cover the moving monuments of literary and artistic life. Today the museum has a collection of about 5 thousand museum exhibits.
