There are unique exhibits of the last two centuries: the form of a postman of the early twentieth century, stained glass windows, dioramas. We collected them from all areas among the postmen, we were also provided with exhibits by people who are interested in the postal service. There is even a map of Ukraine, made of almost 10,000 stamps, boxes of the art project “Mail of Good”, boxes of other mail of the world and many other interesting things. Better to see it once than to read about it. Therefore, I invite Kyiv residents and guests of the capital to discover the history of mail and stamps,” said Ihor Smilyansky, General Director of Ukrposhta during the opening of the renovated museum.
“Mail gives people joyful news through parcels, letters, giving information about what is happening in the state. I am convinced that this museum will be the visiting card of Ukrposhta's activities,” stressed the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan.
A special place among the exhibits of the museum is reserved for postage stamps of Ukraine. Here are collected stamps for 28 years of independence of Ukraine, and their collection will be replenished.
Each visitor will also be able to see the development of mail from the XIX century. to the present, how the processes of sorting letters and parcels have changed, get acquainted with the old postal equipment and transport. Among the exhibits there is a sorting center, a postal wagon and a miniature mail carriage, a telegraph machine, stamping machines, an oilcloth, camisoles, typewriters and more.
The Museum of Ukrposhta has existed since 1995, first it was located in the premises of the Main Post Office, then in the Left Bank Post Office.
