In the revolutionary winter of 2013-2014, the group of like-minded people, understanding the historical scale and social significance of the events, called for the preservation of unique testimonies for descendants and began collecting work on the barricades and educational work — in the media space. Thus, in January 2014, the Maidan Museum initiative emerged, which in the fall merged with the Freedom Museum initiative. The Museum of Maidan/Museum of Freedom worked on the concept of the museum, collected artifacts and testimonies, ensured the preservation, research and popularization of objects, objects and places related to the events of the Maidan. At various stages of the creation of the Maidan Museum, Maidan Self-Defense, Maidan Library, Art Hundred, Maidan Post Office, Automaidan, Maidan Press Center and others, as well as Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, Kyiv City State Administration, Ivan Gonchak Museum National Reserve “Sofia of Kiev”, Museum of the History of Kyiv, National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II, Agency of Cultural Strategies, Ukrainian Committee of ISOM. Representatives of the analytical company pro.mova Yevgeny Glibovitsky, Oleksandra Baklanova, Olesya Ostrovska-Lyuta also joined this. The families of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and Maidanovets victims became participants in the commemoration of the events of the Revolution of Dignity. An important contribution to the civil resistance during Euromaidan was the cooperation of museum workers and activists, who realized at the end of 2013 that the deployment of mass protest was acquiring a historical scale of social significance and that the understanding of freedom as a cultural and social value has a special manifestation in the recent history of the state. The activists of the group called for the preservation of unique testimonies for the descendants and began educational work on the barricades and in the media space. Vasyl Rozhko, Igor Phoshivailo, Mykola Skyba, Andriy Kodiy called for the creation of the Maidan Museum in January 2014. Tlyarchuk, Timur Bobrovsky and Kateryna Chueva with the support of Maidan Self-Defense, and later — the Ukrainian National Committee of the International Council of Museums (ISOM) and the Ukrainian National Committee of the Blue Shield. In addition to the initiators, representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, museum workers and public activists from the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the Ivan Honchar Museum, independent experts, the first official working group on the creation of the Concept of Memorialization and Museumization of the Events of the Revolution of Dignity, included representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance and scientists Volodymyr Yermolenko, Mykhailo Minakov and others. The project of this Concept was the result of the interaction of specialists in museum and monument conservation, public activists, art critics, historians and cultural managers.
