The Belotserkov Museum of Local Lore is located in the city. Bila Tserkva, located on the historical site — Castle Mountain. The museum was founded in January 1924 as the District Museum of Antiquities, and was located in the Winter Palace of the Counts of Branytsy.The museum was based on: part of the Drozdov's own collection Stepan Leontievich — organizer and first director museum, Bolsunovsky Karl Vasilyevich — a member of the All-Russian Society of Archaeologists, an official of the Skvyr Zemstvo and Dzbanovsky Peter Maksimovich — a priest from the village of Tarashcha. Being outstanding specialists in archaeology, numismatics, ethnography, they handed over to the newly created museum some of the items from their private collections. The opening of the exposition of the museum took place in early April 1925. In the same year, on October 26, the new name of the museum was approved — Belotserkovsky District Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum. In May 1926, the museum was transferred to the former Kjondza house on the Castle Gate. In the 1930s, significant cultural values were removed from the museum's funds. On the eve of the Second World War, the funds had about 10 thousand exhibits, and the scientific library - 7 thousand books. During the occupation of the city of Bila Tserkva by the German invaders, the museum was not evacuated. During the war, the museum collection was significantly looted.After the liberation of the city from the invaders, from the second half of 1944, a new exposition was deployed in the museum, funds began to be replenished.In 1976, the construction of a new building of the local history museum began, and on October 7, 1983 a new exposition was opened Today the museum has 22 exhibition halls, a conference hall for 80 and a cinema room for 100 seats. Unique in its structure, the exposition is based on materials collected in the areas of the southern Kiev region and is represented by sections of nature, archeology, history, ethnography. The funds have more than 96 thousand items. The museum houses a rich archaeological, ethnographic, numismatic collection. There is a wide collection of written and photographic documents, among them - old prints of the XVI-XIX centuries. A rich collection of objects of the Cossack era. The art collection has valuable paintings of the XVI-XIX centuries and works of contemporary artists of our city.Belotserkov Museum of Local Lore is a powerful scientific and methodological center of the Right-bank Kyiv region, a center of culture and local lore. On the basis of the museum, local history readings, scientific and practical conferences of various levels are held, devoted to significant events of history and modernity, their materials are printed. Traditional in the museum are creative meetings, thematic evenings, art exhibitions, exhibitions of decorative and applied art by master classics.Since 1996, the Belotserkov Museum of Local Lore has been launched the publication of a popular scientific historical publication — the annual “Yurievsky Chronicle”. Belotserkivsk Museum of Local Lore is the only museum in Ukraine that has its own flag and coat of arms, created in 2004 for the 80th anniversary of the museum.
