Boryspil State Historical Museum

The museum in Boryspil was opened on November 7, 1967. The initiator of the creation of the museum and its constant director for 30 years was Viktor Ivanovich Iova. From 350 of the first exhibits already at the end of the 70s, the museum collection grew to 2 thousand, and over the years their number was constantly growing. In the then small room it was simply impossible to place them, so the question arose of expanding the museum. This idea was supported by the leadership of the district and the city: the then chairman of the city executive committee Mazur Lydia Yurievna (now editor-in-chief of the magazine “Zinka”) and the first secretary of the Zozulya city party Anatoly Petrovych. At the end of 1980, the city executive committee allocated a two-story room, rebuilt according to the requirements of the museum by architects S. Yozhykov and S. Vlasyuk. The construction of the exposition and art design in six halls was developed by director V. Yova. The museum was built at the expense of many enterprises of the city and became a truly national building. Construction work was carried out by PMK-10 trust “Boryspilsilbud”, the head - Pryyatel Naum Mikhailovich. Many people put a lot of effort and energy to make the new museum a real decoration of the city. The newly built premises of the museum received the first visitors on September 23, 1990, on the day of the anniversary of the liberation of Boryspil from the German-fascist occupiers. All this time, the museum collections were constantly growing, because the search engine the work never stopped. Every year the number of exhibits was constantly increasing, and not only at the expense of ancient, but also modern. Over time, even the new premises of the museum could not accommodate all the exhibits, so there was an urgent need for expansion. The first stage of this expansion was the opening in June 2012 of the department “Modern Boryspil”, which covered the latest history and modern life of the city. The initiative of the city authorities found its support among Boryspil residents, in particular, entrepreneurs, public figures, who provided all possible assistance for the creation of the museum department.
