Brovary Museum of Local Lore is a regional museum of local lore in the city of Brovary, Kyiv region, a local collection of materials and objects from the history and culture of the Left Bank of Kyiv region.The museum was established in 1981 as a local museum institution on a public basis. At first it was a branch of the Pereyaslav Museum.Since 1997, the institution has been an independent state museum of local history.Today, the Brovary Museum of Local Lore has 16 exhibition halls on an area of 275 m²: in the first hall there is a natural history collection; in the second - historical and archaeological exhibits from the canons from the era to the end of the XIX century — including some showcases reflect the life of the region of the Cossack times, another section is devoted to the materials about the stay in Brovary region of the Ukrainian genius T. G. Shevchenko; cozy ethnographic exhibition is located in the third hall — life and folk crafts of the Ukrainian people are recreated here; in the next (fourth) hall the events of the twentieth century are reflected — from the liberation competitions of Ukrainians in 1917—21 to the end of the German-Soviet war, in particular individual showcases reflect the period of collectivization, the Holodomor of 1932—1933, the work in the Brovary children's labor colony No. 5 in 1936—37 of the outstanding teacher A. S. Makarenko; the fifth hall is an exhibition hall; in the sixth hall there are materials and objects that tell about the modern life of the city of Brovary, about the industrial development of the region, about famous people - cultural and sports figures, which Brovary and its suburbs are proud of. The museum exposition contains about 2 thousand exhibits, in total, the museum funds — more than 7 thousand exhibits. Although the Brovary Museum of Local Lore has small funds, there are also priceless items that have no analogues in the world — for example, a ritual bone ax and silver earrings of the period of Kievan Rus [2]. The museum also exhibits works by local artists and sculptors, mock-ups of Brovary temples, exquisite products of local craftsmen (from tree roots, landscapes, still lifes, icons made from seeds, etc.) [3]. The museum staff is constantly working on the renewal of the exposition of the institution, including by conducting archaeological expeditions.
