State Historical and Cultural Reserve “Putivl”

The reserve is a research and cultural and educational institution that carries out the protection, study and popularization of cultural monuments, unites ensembles and complexes of attractions, organically connected with them territories and collections of museum values.On the territory of the reserve under the protection of the state there are 35 cultural heritage sites, including 18 monuments of architecture, 10 monuments of history, 3 monuments of archeology and 4 monuments of monumental art. 17 monuments of history, architecture and archeology have the status of national significance (of which 15 are monuments of architecture, 1 of history and 1 of archeology). The territory of the reserve is 225 hectares (72 hectares in the city. Putivli and 153 hectares in Spadshchansky Forest, which is 10 km from Putivl). The category of monuments of national importance includes the archaeological site Gorodok — the child of the ancient Russian Putivl, architectural ensembles of the active Movchansky Monastery (XVI-XIX centuries) and the former Holy Spirit Women's Monastery (XVII-XIX centuries), the church of Miva Velykoritsky (XVIII century). Historical and cultural monuments in Spadshchansky Forest were also given national status in 2009.
