Kherson Art Museum named after Alexei Shovkunenko

Art Museum in the city of Kherson, named after the Ukrainian artist Alexei Alekseevich Shovkunenko. It was opened on May 27, 1978. It is located in the former building of the city hall, a landmark of architecture of the early 20th century. The museum has a branch in the city of Nova Kakhovka. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection numbered more than 13 thousand works of art [5] and was one of the most interesting museum collections of Ukraine. It presents works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative arts, ranging from samples of Russian icon painting of the 17th century to the works of modern Kherson artists.
