Regional Museum of Local Lore, the largest collection of materials, testimonies and objects from the history and culture of the Kherson region; is one of the most famous and priceless museum treasures of the South of Ukraine.Established in 1963 on the basis of the Archaeological Museum, founded in 1890 by V. Hoshkevich from his own finds during excavations in the Kherson region, supplemented by the finds of R. Skadovskogo (from o. Berezani), I. Stempkovsky (from the Dnieper), etc., and from the Kherson Natural History Museum attached to it in 1963, created by Yu. Pachoski (1897). The history of the institution arouses considerable interest among researchers, a number of scientific and popular publications are devoted to it.
