Memorial Museum of Ivan Soshenko

Memorial Museum-Estate of Ivan Soshenka is an educational and cultural institution in the city. Boguslav of Kyiv region, which is a department of the Museum of History of Bohuslav region. Opened on December 15, 1973. With the assistance and direct participation of the Honored Worker of Culture of the USSR, director of the Bohuslav Museum of Local Lore Boris Levchenko, a memorial museum-estate of Ivan Soshenko was created in the parents' house, where the artist was born and spent children and young people years. On December 15, 1973, the solemn opening of the museum of Ivan Soshenko estate on Labunska Gora in Bohuslav.A monument to the work of sculptor Ida Kopaigorenko and architect Voldemar Bogdanovsky was opened in the museum courtyard on June 12, 1982. Exposition Dedicated to life and the work of Ivan Soshenko, concentrated in three rooms (halls) of the house [1]. In the first room there are exhibited materials telling about the childhood and youth of Ivan Soshenko. Interesting here is the record in the metric of the Bohuslav Pokrovskaya Church, made on June 2, 1807, indicating the birth of Soshenko and the title page of the metric book of the Bohuslav County for 1807, as well as photo reproductions telling about the artist's childhood summers.The exposition of the second room highlights the stay Ivan Maksimovich in St. Petersburg during his studies at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts in 1832—1838. In the third room, Soshenko's meeting with T. G. Shevchenko, about the artist's work as a drawing teacher in Nizhyns'ka; Nemyriv (1845—1848) and the Second Kyiv Gymnasium.The museum also presents photo reproductions of numerous sketches and drawings of the artist, in particular, “Portrait in Kuma” (Italy), “Forum Julia in ancient Rome “The Battle of Alexander the Great with Darius”, as well as photo reproductions telling about the pedagogical activity of Soshenko and his last years of life [2].
