The Nikolaev Museum of Shipbuilding and Navy is the only museum of this profile in Ukraine. It is considered the pearl of the shipping region and one of the business cards of the city of Nikolaev.The old house, which houses the museum for 37 years, is a monument of history and architecture of the late 18th — first half of the XIX century. Built in the style of early Russian classicism designed by architect P. Nejelov in 1793, the house served as an office and residence for the chief commanders of the Black Sea Fleet and ports and the military governors of Nikolaev and Sevastopol during 1794-1900.
