Museum of Vikentiy Hvoika and Ivan Franko

It is in the fields of the village. Khalepya Vikentiy Vyacheslavovich conducted his first excavations of the settlement of Trypili in 1896-1898. And during these two years he lived and worked at the local literacy school. Therefore, it is not surprising that today this building plays the role of the Museum of Vikentiy Hvoika. It was discovered on the birthday of an outstanding archaeologist — February 20, 2009. It is still the only museum in Ukraine dedicated to his activities. Two halls reflecting his life — excavations, research, work. In addition, thanks to cooperation with the People's Museum of Ukraine, the museum presents a collection of Trypillian ceramics — fossil artifacts that are more than five thousand years old. These are small and large pots, bowls and... a sensational find — threads of ancient Trypillians, whose age, confirmed by radiocarbon analysis — 5140 years. Also presented is a reconstruction of the archaeologist's office with authentic furniture in the city museum, where he worked as a keeper since its creation in 1899 until his death. In 2009, in the room where the museum of Vikentiy Hvoika was already located, a museum of the outstanding writer and philosopher of Ukraine, Ivan Franko (1856-1916) was opened in a separate room.Ivan Yakovych Franko (1856-1916) is the only Ukrainian poet who was nominated for the winning the Nobel Prize in Literature. Unlike V. Needles, more than one museum is dedicated to him. And although with the archaeologist I. Franco lived at the same time, they hardly met. Therefore, they became neighbors as late as 2010. The writer has never been to these lands, and the exposition is devoted to the road of I. Franka to T. Shevchenko across the Dnieper, whose grave an outstanding Ukrainian figure always wanted to visit.
