On Thursday, June 6, 1999, on the feast of St. A museum of embroidered icons and images has been opened in Lviv by Yuriy Zmieborts. This is the first museum of its kind not only in Lviv, but also in the whole of Ukraine. Initially, the museum housed more than 70 icons and images embroidered directly on the canvas. Faces, their hair, clothes and all backgrounds are embroidered with acrylic thread, and faces, arms and legs are embroidered with DMC floss thread. Over time, the exposition grew to 250 — during his long and interesting life Father Blazejewski embroidered more than 350 icons and started a new direction in art — “embroidered icon”, surrounded himself with a group of followers. And he began to embroider when he turned 60 years old.

Among the icons there are Ukrainian miraculous icons of the Virgin Mary, iconostatic icons, icons of 12 feasts. There are 4 more icons of the Virgin Mary: Sophia Oranta, two Protections and Odigitria; a half-figure icon of Jesus Cross, a couple to Odigitria.There are 6 passionate icons. A significant part of the exposition is made up of icons of holy men and women. Beyond these there are embroidered portraits: Taras Shevchenko, Ivan Franko, Lesya Ukrainka and Markiyan Shashkevych and an embroidered painting of Slastion — bandurists and Mukhin “Glory of the Cossacks”, Swans over the Dnipro. three embroidered compositions of flowers. The special value of these icons and images is that for the embroidery of all icons and images in the Museum there are printed patterns and anyone can embroider them.

On May 5, 2016, the new Museum of Embroidered Icons and Images was inaugurated, which was moved to a more suitable room for exposition and a larger area. Museum address: Lviv, str. Theateral.26.
