Skadovsky District Historical and Local Lore Museum

The Skadovsky District Historical and Local History Museum is located in the only pre-revolutionary building in the city, which is called the “House with Columns”. This two-story house with antique columns was built in the 1910s by order of the professor of the Odessa Technical University of Mettelstein. The mansion was located on Primorsky Boulevard next to Mariinsky Park.In Soviet times, the “House with Columns” served as a sleeping building of the holiday house “Skadovsk”. The museum itself was founded in 1976 and it was located on [Komunarov Street, 78. The founder and first director of the museum was Vladimir Tymoshenko — the first chronicler and historian of the city of Skadovsk. The museum fund amounted to 10 thousand exhibits. Its exposition mainly reflected the historical past of the city and the district, it was dedicated to the feat of the Skadovites on the fronts of the Second World War. In 1978, the museum was awarded the title of People's Museum.
