Museum of local lore in the city of Ternopol, the largest collection of monuments and materials from nature, history, ethnography and life of Ternopil region, the oldest institution of culture and enlightenment in the region.The museum funds store more than 256 thousand exhibits. Especially large are collections of Ukrainian folk clothing from different regions of Ternopil, fine and decorative arts, numismatics, philately, documents and photographs, household items. Unique significance among the exhibits of the Ternopil Museum of Local Lore are: archaeological artifacts (b 40 thousand units), 312 items of weapons, valuable collection of icons XVII — early. XIX centuries, old prints of the Pochaev Lavra of the XVII-XVIII centuries, samples of Ukrainian national dress from different regions of Ternopil region, carpets from Viknyansk weaving workshops of the XIX century, gold weaving from Buchach manufactories, Western European art of the XVII — early. XIX century.The permanent exposition of the museum covers about 12 thousand units of storage.The exposition of the nature department acquaints visitors with the geographical location, geological history and geological structure, minerals, relief, waters, climate, flora and fauna of the region and the characteristic landscape Ternopil region. The exposition of the department of ancient, medieval and new history presents materials that reflect the original communal, feudal and capitalist structure of our region, recreated the period from the most ancient times to the First World War.
