Vasylkiv Historical and Local Lore Museum is a historical and local history museum in the district center of the Kyiv region of the city of Vasylkiv; collection of materials and objects from history, ethnography and culture, prominent persons of Vasylkiv region.The Historical and Local Lore Museum in Vasylkiv was founded on the public on the basis of December 30, 1982. In the creation of the institution an active role was played by a resident of the city, local historian V. Verbitsky. Thanks to his creative search work, the museum's exposition funds were significantly replenished.Currently, the funds of the Vasylkiv Historical and Local History Museum consist of about 1,200 exhibits that reflect the history of the Vasylkiv region at different stages of its development. In particular, the departments of the museum are:archaeological — artifacts belonging to the Stone Age, found on the territory of the Majolic factory: tusks and bones of a mammoth; objects discovered near the village of Gvozdova: stone axes, flint knives, arrowheads, chisels and other tools; the era of copper and bronze is represented by objects, in particular stucco pottery of the Trypillian culture; a special group of archaeological finds in the museum are items from the Scythian mounds: objects of funerary cults, utensils, ornaments, weapons, etc.; finally, the ancient Russian period is represented by certain objects , including those discovered during excavations in the area of Vasilyevsky Child during the archaeological expedition of 1985; ethnographic, history and life of the XIX century — the exposition presents tools, dishes and clothing used by Vasilkovchans in the past; collectivization department of the 1920s-30s years — things and tools of collective farm workers, photo and archival materials related to the period; cultural development of Vasylkivsk region — among other things, the exhibit attracts attention — the outfit of the famous Ukrainian actress Maria Zankovetska, in which she played the role of Varka in the play” The sorceress.” Korifeyka of the theater was taken care of by a theater group created at the Vasylkiv leather factory of Weisberg; the department “They Defended the Motherland” — introduces the heroes-liberators of the Vasylkivsk region from the German-fascist invaders: objects, documents, photographs of that time, memoirs of the participants of those events; department of decorative and applied arts — here, among other things, the products of the masters of the Vasylkiv Major Plant are presented. The Vasylkiv Historical and Local Lore Museum belongs to the branch “Decembrists in Vasylkivshchyna”, which is located in an architectural monument of the city — the administrative house of 1817, and highlights the activities of the Vasilkov administration of the Southern Society of the Decembrists. Here, in particular, a cell has been preserved, in which, after the arrest, S. Muravyov-Apostol and M. Bestuzhev-Ryumin.The employees of the Vasylkiv Museum of History and Local Lore are in constant creative search, collect and systematize new materials, carry out research and research work. Much is being done about the propaganda of the history of the native land among the student youth, the population of the city.
